Our Team

Professor Manish Patel
Principal Investigator

Professor Manish Patel is a urological cancer surgeon and is regarded as an Australian leader in the management of urological malignancies. Prof Patel is a Professor at the University of Sydney. He co-ordinates a large teaching program and leads a sizeable research team focusing on prostate cancer, oncology, and translational research. 

Professor Stefano Occhipinti
Co-Investigator

Professor Stefano Occhipinti is a psychologist and professor of health communication. His work has been funded by the NHMRC (Australia), the Australian Research Council, the Cancer Council, and, Cancer Australia. He specialises in the application of both qualitative approaches and high-powered statistical techniques to address complementary research questions.

Professor Suzanne Chambers
Co-Investigator

Professor Suzanne Chambers AO is a health psychologist and registered nurse who has been working as a practitioner-researcher in psycho-oncology for over 30 years. She was awarded her PhD in 2004 and has over 300 peer-reviewed publications. Her work has focussed on developing models to predict help seeking and adjustment after cancer​.

Dr Steven Sowter
Co-Investigator

Dr Steven Sowter is a rural urological surgeon and Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the University of NSW, Sydney. His practice and research is focussed on clinical outcomes and quality improvement for rural and remote patients with urological pathology. He provides service to western NSW, with interests in oncology and prostate cancer management.

Dr Scott Leslie
​Co-Investigator

Dr Scott Leslie is a urological surgeon with expertise in robotic surgery, laparoscopic surgery and in the treatment of patients with urological cancers. Dr Leslie is the Robotic Research Lead at the Institute of Academic Surgery, and has authored multiple peer reviewed articles and book chapters particularly on the topic of robotic procedures in urology. 

Dr Stuart Jackson
​Co-Investigator, Study Co-ordinator

Dr Stuart Jackson is a urological trainee and PhD candidate at the University of Sydney. His research is focussed on information resources and eHealth in prostate cancer. Dr Jackson was awarded the Joint Semmelweis and Harold Alfred Waldron Memorial prize in 2018, and is an aspiring academic urologist with interests in oncology, and prostate cancer survivorship.
